Ihobe, the Basque Government’s environmental society, publishes the inventory of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) for each of the provinces of the Basque Country.
After the publication of the Euskadi inventory (here ) In this new document, the evolution of GHG emissions from 2005 to 2020 is analyzed for each province.
Euskadi reduced its emissions by 35% in that period, compared to 27% in the EU.
Araba reduced 25%, Bizkaia 34% and Gipuzkoa 41%.
It is important to note that 2020 was not a typical year due to the pandemic. This can be seen in the 12% drop in consumption compared to 2019.
That is why it is estimated that emissions in 2021 will increase compared to 2020, making the data in this report somewhat less positive.
