The British media Times Higher Education, specialized in higher education, has produced an World Ranking of Universities based on their economic, social and environmental impact, taking as reference the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. Consequently, the ranking uses indicators such as academic freedom, the type of employment contracts, or the percentage of women in teaching positions.

The ranking includes 450 universities from 76 countries, which are evaluated through metrics that reflect eleven of the seventeen SDGs. Among the top 100 universities in the ranking, we find four institutions of the Spanish university system, the most prominent being the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 29th place, standing out above all in gender equality policies. Among the Basque universities, the University of Deusto appears in the group of 100-200 positions, highlighting the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies.
