Our colleagues Sara Soloaga and Aitor Mingo, have given a training course on the Basque Energy Sustainability Law 4/2019 and the General Energy Action Plan of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia that comes to comply with this regulation. In two sessions (in Basque and Spanish respectively) of three hours each, NAIDER has approached the internal staff of the Provincial Council about the need to act to improve energy sustainability and the way in which it is to be addressed within the Council.

During the sessions, the causes and consequences of the climate crisis at all levels were explained, as well as how the regulatory and climate action context has evolved from international bodies to the Provincial Council itself. Of course, they have also been able to know in detail what obligations are included in the law 4/2019 and how to comply with them through the Energy Action Plan of the Provincial Council: a plan that we were able to develop from NAIDER in collaboration with the Department of Natural Environment and Sustainability of the Provincial Council and that seeks to lead the energy transition within the Provincial Council. It has been two intense days in terms of content but which have allowed us to know in depth the specific steps that the public administration has to implement to lead the transition to meet international climate targets.
