A date in Bilbao with sustainable European cities infopost

Today the 8th European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns is launched, an event that will take place at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao until Friday, April 29 and in which we will be present from Naider. The event, which is hosted by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, Bilbao City Council, Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Basque Government According to the organizers, it will bring together “more than 1,000 representatives of the public administration, international organizations, research entities and the private sector to discuss urban policies and their impact on the environment for three days”.

As part of the quote, which also has the support of Udalsarea 21 and the City Councils of Donostia and Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Provincial Councils of Gipuzkoa and Araba, it is expected that the local European representatives will support the Basque Declaration, a document that proposes a new roadmap for the cities and towns of the continent to be “productive, sustainable and resilient for a livable and inclusive Europe”.

The first edition of this event, held in Aalborg, Denmark in 1994, gave rise to the Charter of Aalborg, an important milestone in the advancement of the Agenda 21 movement in Europe.
