eBay acquires Basque startup Ticketbis

The Basque startup Ticketbis, founded in 2009 in Bilbao by Jon Uriarte and Ander Michelena to bring the ticket resale market to the digital world, has been acquired by the e-commerce giant eBay for a price of around 165 million dollars, reports TechCrunch . In its six years of existence, Ticketbis has come to operate in more than 47 countries with an organization size of 400 people, reaching a turnover of 85 million euros in 2015.

eBay acquires Ticketbis to integrate it into StubHub, its ticket marketplace, and expand its presence in Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, beyond the US market.
