A collaboration between Ibarmia, the University of the Basque Country and Tecnalia has given rise to the creation of one of the most advanced 3D printers in the world and known as “Add Process”, this machine will make the possibilities of the Basque industry even more flexible thanks to its capacity to manufacture parts of up to 1.6 meters in length as well as complex parts in sectors such as the automotive, aeronautical or machine tool sectors.
As far as consumption is concerned, this new tool, considered as precise additive technology of the minimum material, which in some cases means up to 60% savings compared to previous manufacturing processes. Its operation is based on the manufacture of micrometric parts by laser, then placing them in the precise place.
The machine was presented at the last EMO fair in Milan and will be available to Basque companies that need it at the Tecnalia facilities in the San Sebastián technology park.
