Gasteiz fights poverty

Vitoria-Gasteiz is in luck because the Basque capital can boast of being the city in the Spanish state with the lowest poverty rate. According to the data of the study prepared by the company AIS GROUP, the potato city has “only” 7% of the population at risk of poverty. Despite being a percentage that is still high for the times we live in, it should be remembered that the average for the Spanish state is 22%.

It is true that poverty can be a subjective term, for this reason, the company in charge of the study understands as a risk of poverty single-person households with income below €7,961 per year or households with 2 adults and 2 children with an income of less than €16,719 per year.

The report also reveals that the cities that suffer the most from poverty are those located in the southern half of the peninsula.
