African heads of state have presented at COP21 a massive plan to install 300 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030. This initiative was announced this week under the name of the African Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI, for its acronym). in English). Its goal is to reach 10 gigawatts of new renewable energy by 2020 and mobilize the potential to generate 300 gigawatts by 2030. This initiative is implemented by African countries and undoubtedly represents a part of their contribution to global efforts to stop climate change and eliminate energy poverty.

France has already promised to invest no more and no less than 2,000 million euros in this initiative with an intrinsically African conception and which could change the landscape, the economy and access to electricity in Africa.
