After completion of the Pilot Project Aparka, free secure and connected parking for bicycles, in order to encourage sustainable transport among its students and staff, the UPV/EHU has decided to maintain this commitment for the next academic year.

The system, developed by Emmaus Bilbao with the support of BBK, is a pioneering initiative in Europe. Aparka allows each vehicle to be stored in its own closed space and protected from possible theft and inclement weather. With a personalized card, you can also access the Aparka website and mobile application (App), as well as complementary services, such as repairing while the bicycle is parked on campus.

The Vice-rectorate of the Bizkaia Campus plans to keep the module already installed next academic year and will try to get more modules to install in other areas of the Campus, with the aim of promoting the use of this type of sustainable transport both to access the facilities and to move within them.

We hope that in the near future, this project, which in addition to promoting sustainable mobility, generates employment opportunities in the field of environmental sustainability for people in a situation of social exclusion, will extend beyond the Bizkaia Campus.
