The company Haizea Wind will create a plant in the Port of Bilbao for the production of offshore wind towers and components for the European market. With a total investment of 55 million euros for its construction, equipment and commissioning, the new plant will generate 296 jobs. The complex, which will have around 49,000 m2 on a 77,000 m2 plot, will have a production capacity of 180 offshore wind towers destined for the high seas. The Port Authority awarded the construction for 17.5 million euros, and Haizea Wind was awarded a concession for the next 35 years.

Haizea Wind will contribute 37.4 million euros to the project, while the company Ekarpen – owned by the Basque Government, Provincial Councils, Kutxabank and Mondragon – will contribute 12 million.
