Yesterday, Thursday 26 February, NAIDER held a participatory session at Izarra Centre, bringing to a close the public display period of the information panels for the Comprehensive Management and Action Plan of the Urtia Industrial Estate, an area of economic activity shared by the municipalities of Ermua and Mallabia.

During the session, the contributions gathered in recent weeks from companies located on the estate were shared and incorporated into the Plan’s action opportunities map, structured around eight thematic areas. Discussions addressed key aspects of estate life: resurfacing works; improvements to signage and loading and unloading areas; the impact of the new road bypass on company access and parking; collaborative management of industrial waste from a circular economy perspective; the potential creation of a local energy community with shared self-consumption; and flood risk and drainage challenges linked to the river channel. Cross-cutting discussions also focused on the estate’s competitiveness and on enhancing the urban and industrial environment as determining factors in attracting and retaining economic activity.

The session also made progress in defining the map of available funding, which includes resources from the Provincial Council, the Preferential Action Area scheme, and the possibility of promoting a Data Space project to monitor energy consumption. The structure of the action sheets that will shape the Plan was also reviewed.

The workshop was attended by Iván de Torres and Haizea Aguirre Puértolas from the NAIDER team, together with representatives of companies based in the Urtia Industrial Estate. The next step will be the final validation of the Comprehensive Plan, scheduled for March.
