A no lesser edge of cryptocurrencies is the great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lavanguardia.com\/tecnologia\/20210920\/7732643\/bitcoin-transaction-generates-waste-throw-two-iphones-contamination-mining-cryptocurrencies -pmv.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">impact\nenvironment they produce in each transaction<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the\ntechnology that makes bitcoins possible, called <strong>blockchain<\/strong><strong> or chain of\nblocks<\/strong>, has the\npotential to be a <strong>key innovation <\/strong>in the\ntransformation of social interactions, public services, and\nour relations with the environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Conference\nUnited Nations Committee on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) <a href=\"https:\/\/unctad.org\/system\/files\/official-document\/dtlstict2021d3_en.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">develops\nin a report<\/a> the windows\nof opportunity that are opened with the blockchain to promote\nthe <strong>Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The blockchain has the\npotential to increase financial transparency and accountability and\ngenerate significant savings in time and fees, and at the same time facilitate\naccess to rights and services for citizens, especially in countries with\na still weak state structure.\n\nThe Report of\nUNCTAD explains that the blockchain could\npromote development <strong>if governments pursue policies that maximize their\npotential <\/strong>benefits,\nwhile mitigating detrimental outcomes\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cryptocurrencies are being used as an instrument of pure financial speculation.
