Every time it becomes more difficult for us to visualize a\nreality where new technologies do not play a relevant role. these, what\nincreasingly evolve faster, prevent people who lack\nexperience in the use and understanding of the same can be kept up to date.\ncutting edge of new advances. For this reason, it has sometimes been considered\ntechnology as a separating agent between classes, making those\ngroups incapable of assimilating new advances are left behind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the latest technological advances, la\ntechnology <\/a>blockchain<\/a> has not stopped\nto be the protagonist on numerous covers due to the recent rise in the price of\nBitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, and their impact on the financial world. Without\nHowever, the application of this technology goes far beyond the world\ncryptographic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a decentralized information system,\nThis technology could have a very relevant impact when it comes to developing\nactions that bring us closer to the Sustainable Development Goals. This\ncapacity has also been recognized by the United Nations, who in May\n2021, at the Commission on Science and Technology for Development, highlighted the\npotential impact of this technology for the real economy in terms of\nexchange, logistics and production processes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a consequence of this commission, the\nreport \u201c<\/a><\/em>HARNESSING\nBLOCKCHAIN \u200b\u200bFOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES”, <\/a><\/em>where\nexpose the main capabilities of this technology in order to achieve\nthe SDGs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This report highlights the ability of the blockchain to transform\nsocial interactions, public institutions, as well as the way in which we\nwe relate to our environment. It also presents a great opportunity for\ndeveloping countries, which could diversify their economies\nconsidering activities related to this technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report encourages governments to\nstrengthen their innovation systems in order to position themselves\nstrategically and be at the forefront of future waves of technology. This\nincludes the commitment to pilot projects that focus on the implementation and\ndiffusion of this technology. On the part of the United Nations, the report highlights\nthe role of ASYCUDA<\/a> (Automated System for Custom Data), who\nis already considering the implementation of this technology within its own\nprocesses. This implementation could have a positive impact on the more than\n100 developing countries that are part of this institution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the report also highlights the main barriers to consider when implementing this technology. It is considered that we are still in a state of infancy in terms of its development, so factors such as regulation or the safety of its application and development still require considerable efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
