During 2021, the San Sebastian Film Festival made a firm commitment to carry out a diagnosis of its environmental impact in order to define a starting point from which to work towards a more sustainable Festival. With this objective, the project carried out jointly with Naider included the analysis not only of the nine days of the Film Festival, but also the annual activity of the organization dedicated to the preparation of the event itself. The diagnosis was complemented with a first Action Plan that focused on the lines of action to materialize the commitment in actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main axis of the diagnosis was the calculation of the carbon footprint, which made it possible to quantify the activities of the organization in tons of CO2 equivalent. Factors such as the mission, vision and values \u200b\u200bof the company were added to the analysis of the carbon footprint to take into account the particularities of the activity of the San Sebastian Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to ensure the quality of the results, at Naider we paid special attention to collecting the necessary data. For this, surveys, interviews and work sessions with management, staff, and suppliers of goods and services were used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resulting environmental impact was summarized in five main areas with which the festival’s activity is synthesized; waste, contracting, mobility, energy and commitment. In total, it was concluded that the environmental impact of the Festival is high, although it is proportionally less than that of other similar events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project ended with a press conference in which the work carried out was transmitted, as well as the key messages concluded. In addition, the environmental diagnosis has been included in an report<\/a> that the San Sebastian Festival publishes on its website with the intention to update it year by year to monitor compliance with the environmental actions you implement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
