The award that <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/europeangreencapital\/winning-cities\/2012-vitoria-gasteiz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vitoria-Gasteiz<\/a> held in 2012, today recognizes the capital lusa for <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/europeangreencapital\/winning-cities\/2020-lisbon\/15210-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">various advances in sustainability<\/a>. The following are particularly noteworthy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Carbon Neutral by 2050: <\/strong>Lisbon plans to be CO<sub>2<\/sub> neutral by 2050, and it is already on track. From 2012 to 2016, emissions were reduced by 42% and a reduction of 60% is estimated for 2030.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Servitization of sustainable mobility:<\/strong> The city has a shared electric mobility service. Lisbon offers citizens and visitors cars, motorcycles and electric bicycles for shared use.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Efficient water management<\/strong>: It is one of the most efficient cities in terms of water distribution. Losses have been reduced since 2005 by 16%. An innovative water recirculation system has been created to use water from treatment plants in parks and gardens.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Complete and expand the green infrastructure network<\/strong>: Lisbon is connecting its parks and gardens through green infrastructure with the ecological corridor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cm-lisboa.pt\/ living\/environment\/green-corridors\/vale-de-alcantara\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vale de Alc\u00e2ntara<\/a> . Corridor that plans to introduce biodiversity to the center of the city.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Like Lisbon, many other <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/europeangreencapital\/winning-cities\/previous-finalists\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cities in Europe<\/a>, and in the world, are examples to follow and ideas can be drawn from them to provide solutions to the different challenges that our cities face.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lisbon will be the next European green capital, taking over from Oslo the capital of Portugal will be the one who makes visible during the next year which are the policies implemented and the changes generated in environmental matter.
