As we have been showing in recent days, this international event is the result of 21 years of efforts to obtain an agreement to combat climate change. to the current and failed Kyoto Protocol when it comes to an end in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The challenge we face is unprecedented. The expectations are high, and the objective ambitious: to keep the global temperature increase below 2\u00baC above the pre-industrial reference level. But the stakes are also colossal: a binding and ambitious agreement would mark the beginning of the end for the use of fossil fuels as our primary source of energy.
