The International University of Andalusia<\/a> (UNIA) has organized a summer course entitled Creative urban sustainability<\/a> of 13 to September 17 in Seville. The direction of the course is the responsibility of Ecosistema Urbano<\/strong>, who have thought that I have two hours to speak in one of the sessions.<\/p>\n

The presentation of the course goes like this:
\nSustainability affects all human activity. It is not exclusively an energy concept but also an environmental, social and economic one. For this reason an energy responsible design – a bioclimatic building – is not enough. Professionals are responsible for generating and designing buildings and cities that are more efficient, more balanced and less polluting; that induce a better and greater knowledge of the user and a greater sensitivity in this regard. Without the participation of the users, the effort is useless. A well-channeled citizen participation contributes positively to the development of policies, programs and projects, both public and private, as well as strengthens and enhances social heritage and democratic life. <\/em>
\nThe course will offer a multifaceted look at the city, revealing the different layers that make it up: social networks, technology, information, energy efficiency, social economy, mobility, waste management, etc.<\/em>
\nBut it is on the website of Urban Ecosystem<\/a> where the topics to be addressed are better understood:
\nThis course aims to bring us closer to public space by exploring the basic concepts that characterize it and the new tools that activate it: design<\/strong> (technology, comfort, play);participation<\/strong> ( plural, tools, action); regeneration<\/strong>(integral, economy, solar) and branding and marketing<\/strong> (competitiveness, creativity, viral), and will have the participation of experts in different subjects: urbanism, sociology, participation citizenship, technology, etc. Among the participants are Jos\u00e9 P\u00e9rez de Lama <\/strong>(hackitectura<\/a>), Txelu <\/strong>(amaste<\/a>), Augusto Piovano <\/strong >(Critical City<\/a>), Servando \u00c1lvarez, Manu Fern\u00e1ndez <\/strong>( Naider<\/a>), Patrizia Di Monte<\/strong>(estonoesunsolar<\/a>), Andr\u00e9s Walliser<\/strong>, Adolfo Chaut\u00f3n<\/strong>.. .).<\/em>
\nI will try to understand how some economic processes affect the functioning and configuration of our cities, both in its built aspect (public spaces, urban planning, design,…) and in the experiential part of the urban experience. My approach will contrast with the approach of other participants because I suppose that I will have to take a tour, above all, of the dynamics of economic competitiveness of cities and the effects that this has on their evolution. I hope to find traces of these themes in the posts of two and a half years of this blog and in my delicious account< \/a>, phenomenal invention for digital Diogenes syndrome.
