We knew in advance the advantages of drinking coffee, both from a culinary point of view and from a health point of view, what we had overlooked, at least a few, are the advantages that this food can bring to the ecosystem, the reason ; Coffee grounds can become an important source of energy, as the University of Jaén has discovered, which takes advantage of the drying process of coffee grounds to obtain biodiesel from fats, bioethanol from sugars, and pellets from defatted grounds .
This discovery brings doubly positive effects and that is that highly polluting grounds that used to end up in rivers are used in this way, apart from the fact that worldwide coffee waste could generate about 200 million liters of biodiesel.
