The good results in 2019 and the proliferation of currents that advocate a green and sustainable way out of the pandemic, does not seem to save renewable energy from the hit of Covid19. The International Energy Agency (IEA) published this week its report, where a drop is expected global year-on-year of 13% of new renewable electricity production facilities connected to the grid.
These updated predictions assume a 20% drop compared to the increase they had planned before the crisis. The installations of renewables are not spared from the scourge, despite the fact that giants are expected to as China and the United States increase their capacity. It seems that both are rushing to close the projects that have assets this year. The first, due to the gradual elimination of subsidies and the second by the end of exemptions taxes from which they currently benefit. Despite this bump in 2020, it is expected to return with force in 2021.
