Adressing the environmental and climate footprint of buildings

More than 30% of the EU’s environmental footprint comes from the built environment, making it the sector with the highest environmental impact.

A report by the European Environment Agency calls for a sustainable, affordable and accessible building system for all. This goal could be supported by participatory approaches to decision-making that empower local communities, together with financial support for renovation and upgrading to make sustainable buildings more affordable.
