Ihobe, the Basque Government’s public company for environmental management, is being supported by NAIDER to carry out a cost-benefit analysis of the aid programmes for companies and local bodies to promote environmental sustainability and to make recommendations for the new term of office.

The Vice-Ministry of the Environment of the Basque Government periodically calls for applications for grants to companies and local bodies to promote projects and actions that contribute to improving the environmental sustainability of the territory as a whole. Ihobe is the collaborating body in charge of designing this economic instrument, drawing up the subsidy orders and managing the applications for these subsidies.

Cost-effectiveness analysis aims to compare the outcomes of programmes with the costs of implementing them. Based on the results, policy makers can identify the options that deliver the greatest impact per euro invested, facilitating a better allocation of resources and maximising the return on public investment.
