The Bilbao 2050 Urban Digital Twin, developed by NAIDER for Bilbao City Council, has been selected as a finalist in the Smart Territories category of the 14th enerTIC Awards. The awards recognise projects that apply digitalisation to energy efficiency and sustainability.

The digital twin has been developed as part of the technical support provided for the Bilbao 2050 Environmental Strategy. It brings together monitoring of the strategy’s four pillars (carbon neutrality, flood risk, heatwaves and environmental health) on a 3D map of the city. It also includes tools to simulate energy retrofit, climate adaptation and renaturalisation measures, making it possible to compare scenarios up to 2050.

Bilbao shares the final with Segovia City Council’s Digital Twin and Valladolid City Council’s VIBES-Ríos de Luz. The winner will be chosen by online vote between 20 October and 13 November, and the result will be announced on 10 December in Madrid.

Further information on the digital twin is available on the project page on NaiderLab and in the entry published by enerTIC (in Spanish).
