The municipalities of Ermua and Mallabia have launched the drafting of a Management and Action Plan for the Urtia Industrial Estate, a strategic enclave shared by both towns in Bizkaia. The project aims to ensure the conservation, improvement and adaptation of the estate, while strengthening its governance model and activating a regeneration process to boost competitiveness.
The technical assistance begins with a comprehensive analysis of the current situation, which will help to define priority lines of action and establish a consensual governance framework for the new Urtia Industrial Estate Business Association. The plan will also include a roadmap to guarantee operational viability and coordinated management of the estate.
The Urtia Industrial Estate is a key industrial hub for the region, strategically located close to the AP-8 motorway and the Bilbao–Donostia railway line. It is home to a business network that reflects the area’s industrial tradition, particularly in the automotive, metallurgy and manufacturing sectors, and is now preparing to meet the challenges of modernisation and sustainability.
