The OECD’s Public Sector Innovation Observatory (PSIO) has analysed 1,084 initiatives from 94 countries to produce the “Global Trends in Government Innovation 2023” Report, identifying four key trends:
- New forms of accountability in a new era of governing.
- New approaches to care.
- New methods of preserving identities and strengthening equity.
- New ways of engaging citizens and residents.
The summary document, which lists some of the most prominent initiatives, stresses that innovation in the public sector can contribute to making the public sector more transparent, establish responses to new challenges in the health sector, address new and old inequities and safeguard cultural values, and open up decision-making processes, in an era marked by multiple crises.
