Today, the companies in Txorierri region, coordinated by the Egaz Txorierri agency and NAIDER and with the participation of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Novattia, Ihobe and Aclima, took part in the Txorierri Zirkularra Forum. The event aimed to promote the creation of synergies around circular economy practices among companies in the region. Held at Waste Lab Bizkaia, the event included a presentation and guided tour organised by the centre’s management team.

According to Egaz, this is in line with several initiatives identified in the Txorierri Strategic Business Action Plan. At the forum, Naider led an interactive session in which attendees were able to contribute their views on the circular economy in real time. Ideas such as inter-company spaces where businesses could share data and collaborate on circular projects were well received.

Naider also presented the results of the circular economy questionnaire launched in October to companies in the region. The results reflect a general interest in circularity, although companies were more reluctant to discuss the measures they have implemented and the investment they have made, partly due to a lack of information on the circular economy and the associated regulations.

This was followed by a roundtable discussion, moderated by Naider, in which Aclima, Ihobe, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, and Novattia discussed business opportunities and best practices in the circular economy. The essential involvement of R&D centres such as Novattia in developing circular solutions for SMEs was highlighted, as was institutional support for projects of this type. Companies in attendance also participated actively in the event, emphasising the difficulty some companies experience in understanding the official regulations on the circular economy in detail as one of the main challenges facing the industry and its related services.

Egaz Txorierri, for its part, recalled the importance of circularity for companies in the region and the need for efficient collaboration between development agencies, public administrations and companies. The Txorierri Zirkularra Forum is an example of this. The Regional Round Table was announced to be held on 3 December at Derioko Kultur Birika, where the Strategic Business Plan for 2026 will be promoted.

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia closed the session by emphasising the strategic importance of Txorierri’s industrial fabric and the importance of companies gradually adopting circular practices in the context of the widely accepted climate emergency.
