Haizea Aguirre, Urban Regeneration Coordinator at NAIDER, took part in the 2026 Madrid Cities Forum, held at IFEMA Madrid, to share the experience of the Bilbao Data Observatory and its Digital Twin, an initiative led by Bilbao City Council to strengthen the capacity for observation, analysis and understanding of urban processes.
Transforming cities increasingly requires the ability to interpret complex information, identify emerging trends and turn data into useful knowledge for decision-making. In this context, urban observatories and digital twins are opening new possibilities for better understanding how territories evolve, identifying trends and evaluating the impact of public interventions.
The session provided an opportunity to exchange experiences with public administrations, technology companies, universities and professionals working in the fields of urban digitalisation, innovation and smart city management.
