NAIDER continues to strengthen ties with relevant entities from different European countries to address the challenges of our societies through the development and implementation of innovative solutions. We are honoured to be part of the consortium behind the European DroughtSinergy project proposal that has recently been submitted to the Horizon Europe Programme call for “Demonstrating nature-based solutions for sustainable water resources management in a changing climate, with a focus on reducing the impact of extreme droughts”.
The DroughtSinergy project, led by the Atlantic Technological University in Ireland, has thirty partners, including the Environmental Studies Centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz and the University of the Basque Country. Focusing on 10 living labs across Europe and targeting a network of different river basins and local and regional communities, DroughtSinergy seeks to conceptualise, co-design, co-develop and co-implement innovative, locally adapted, system thinking-based Nature Based Solutions (NBS) to strengthen resilience to hydrometeorological risks, particularly droughts.
Through a quadruple helix model, DroughtSynergy actively engages stakeholders, communities and citizens in line with European climate and water policies. The project’s objectives include overcoming barriers, fostering social innovation and aligning with Horizon Europe missions.
