Pablo Bustinduy, the Minister for Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030, visited the Technical Office of the Ensanche Eco-Distrito Emprendedor Project, which is revitalising the centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Accompanied by Mayor Maider Etxebarria, Bustinduy learned about the project’s progress, which is supported by the Ministry, from our collaborator Ekain Jiménez Valencia.
Also in attendance were Marisol Garmendia, Government Delegate in the Basque Country; Borja Rodríguez, Councillor for City Model at Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council; and Ignacio Cepeda, Manager of Ensanche 21 Zabalgunea, the municipal urban development company that set up the neighbourhood service office. Ekain Jiménez and NAIDER collaborate with Ensanche 21 Zabalgunea in managing the office as a community support centre.
The project involves socio-economic and urban revitalisation of the city centre district, promoting activities related to eco-design and eco-innovation. The focus is on the rehabilitation and regeneration of Vitoria city centre’s urban fabric.
NAIDER and Paisaje Transversal have prepared preliminary studies for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Teatro Principal block, which has been proposed as a pilot project for the rest of the blocks.
